connecting the dots...
I believe that all entrepreneurs have mentors of some sort or people that they admire. Steve Jobs is one of mine out of many. He was a brilliant IT guy but the thing that impressed me most is that he fully believed that “design” was equally as important as the “works”, and to him they were even “one and the same”. He understood the creative mind and how integral it is to the entire process of a creation.
“Creati
vity is just connecting things. When you ask creative people how they did something, they feel a little guilty because they didn’t really do it, they just saw something. It seemed obvious to them after a while. That’s because they were able to connect experiences they’ve had and synthesize new things. And the reason they were able to do that was that they’ve had more experiences or they have thought more about their experiences than other people.”
-Steve Jobs
He further referenced that a lot of people in his industry had not had very diverse experiences, therefore didn’t have enough dots to connect. I love this analogy.
How often do you feel that your dots aren’t connected? Are you fulfilling a creative dream every day? Are you connecting the dots?
